When you are a company of one, remote worker or just part of a small team, you can easily go weeks without meeting people professionally. While this challenge is not part of my 2016 resolutions (16 for 2016!), I do plan to track my face-to-face networking and challenge myself to more facetime with others.
You set the rules for this. You are the judge whether you were successful. For me, professional conversations with someone new over the phone for more than 30 minutes count. Face-to-face social conversations of longer than five minutes that touch on our professional lives also count with new connections.
Part of succeeding in this challenge is to get me out there attending actual professional events like Chamber of Commerce mixer, breakfast with the mayor, etc. It serves as incentive for me to make time for networking so I can reap the benefits.
