I saw this great blog post by Anna Runyan on networking. Networking is one of those words that overwhelm me – I immediately think “song and dance” and eek! I don’t have a skit prepared. But the thought of tracking and challenging myself in 2014 was a good one, so I’ve created a worksheet to go along with the challenge to keep track. You can download for free below!
See you out there! Say hello!
Beginning of Anna’s article…
On January 1st, 2011, I made a new year’s resolution to knock down my barriers to networking and reach my goals. I was graduating with my MBA in March and I was determined to use networking as a way to figure out the next step in my career. I embarked on a 4X4 networking challenge where every month I would meet with four people I already knew but would like to get to know even better. I also made a point of meeting with four new people. My goal was to learn from each person I talked to and ask questions about how I to get to the next step in my career. At the end of 2011, I added 48 new people to my network and strengthened relationships with 48 friends, co-workers and family members.
Are you ready to knock down your barriers to networking?
Become one of the many people who have decided to join me in the networking challenge! Don’t feel the need to start right out with the 4 X 4. Many people start their first month with just meeting a couple of people and then they grow it every month. The most important tip I have is to plan ahead. If you write down who you want to meet and email them BEFORE the month starts- you will be amazed by how easy AND fun it is! So what’s stopping you? Join me!
