One of my most valuable work experiences was serving as marketing director for a natural products company. It was a small company with many people doing many jobs. In addition, my workspace was located in the same room as the sales staff. Sometimes, overhearing twenty conversations was hard on the brand thinking but overall, it gave me huge insight into what on-the-ground sales people need. I could hear the questions customers were asking and help address issues and develop product sale sheets that made the difference in moving our products onto the shelves and then off.
